I recently spent some time in Vancouver Canada with footbag player Olav Piwowar, and put together the first official trailer for the upcoming film. Olav is an inspiring human and I had a lot of fun both playing with, and filming him play. Due to the cost of licensing 'Can I Kick It?' as a theme song for the film, I have opted to not go that direction, and henceforth the film will be known as 'Freestyle: A Footbag Story'. Big thanks to Austin James for helping with some of the filming on this trailer. Enjoy!
Today it is our pleasure to announce that our first feature length documentary film - 'Can I Kick It - A Footbag Story' will begin production in April 2023. As a media production company, Elysium Project is always looking for new and engaging content to share with the world. We feel the little known sport of freestyle footbag is something we really want to shine a spotlight on. The vast catelogue of moves, differing styles of play, and the ability to kick both alone or with friends, makes footbag a truly unique sport - akin to skateboarding, but much less known. We feel that in a world where we are so attached to our cell phones, taking a step back to enjoy the physical benifits of kicking a footbag with friends is more important than ever.
Filming will begin in April in Vancouver Canada, where we will take to the road, travelling down to Oregon (where it all began), through San Francisco and Los Angeles, finishing preliminary filming in May. If you are a player or part of the footbag community and would like to be involved in this project please feel free to reach out to us via the contact form on our website.
The above video is a rough sample clip of what we hope to bring to life, using clips borrowed from YouTube. The final product will be entirely original footage. We are currently reaching out to Sony regarding licensing 'Can I Kick It' by 'A Tribe Called Quest', for use in the film.
